One Filmmaker's vehicle

Is your hatchback not cutting it for traveling and hauling your film equipment or are your friends not willing to help you bring some of it to your next shooting location? A documentary filmmaker friend of mine recently made a vehicle purchase specifically for traveling for shoots.
"It's a used ambulance", he tells me.

"Like the Ghostbusters' car?"

"Um no. It's something a little more current. The ride is perfect for what I need."

He goes on to tell me that he found it on ebay.com and that the vehicle was reasonably priced. The rear still had the shelving units still intact and it worked perfectly for storing equipment with room still for his small crew to ride along.

Which Screenwriting Program do You Prefer?

You can not be a first time screenwriter without a program in my opinion. My current gig is revising and rewriting a director's script because it was his first screenplay and had no idea what he was doing while writing his story in Microsoft Word. I write with Movie Magic Screenwriter 6 from Write Brothers, Inc. http://www.write-bros.com/ I do not have a single complaint about this software. It will show you everything you wanted to know about screenwriting and whole lot more information that you didn't even know existed! This is my second screenwriting program from Write Brothers, Inc. and I honestly believe that I will never stray from them. Do you have a favorite?

What is the best camera for your film?

I have a lot of fellow filmmakers tell me that digital is the only way to go. I respectively disagree. I believe that the type of look you want for your film depends on the camera that should be used. Are you looking smooth and clean impression? Go with digital then. For an amateur first time filmmaker digital may be the way to go because of the ease comparably to film when it comes time to cut and edit.  A Panasonic AG-DVX100B (mini DV) is what I used for my first film and the reason is that I needed a “rough” look for today’s independent film. I know you can use editing programs to adjust the mood but I personally think the type of camera helps to that effect. I am not against digital whatsoever. In fact the next one I would love to use is a RED. Absolutely amazing! They are very expensive but well worth it. I know that director David Fincher has used them in his last few films.
